Er-Hu

Description :

er huA Chinese bowed string instrument similar to a violin with two strings. (2-Stringed Violin) Although it dates back to the Song Dynasty in about 1100 AD, it’s only been use as a solo instrument since around the early 20th century. The sound of the Er - Hu is similar to a violin but with a thinner tone due to the smaller resonating.

 

Class Format : Individual

Class Duration : 30 minutes, once a week.

 

 

Pi-Pa

Description :

pipaThe Pipa is a four stringed lute with a pear-shaped body. Since the Tang Dynasty (618-907), the pipa is one of the most popular Chinese instruments and has maintained its appeal in solo as well as chamber genres. This course will cover the Pipa techniques such as Roll , Slaps , Pizzicato , etc.

Class Duration : 30 minutes, once a week.

 

 

Gu-Zheng

Description :

gu zhengThe Gu-Zheng came from a traditional Chinese musical instrument called Zheng. Gu-Zheng was a new instrument of China that evolved from Zheng. It has been changed so the sound would have the same key as a modern musical note. This course will cover all the necessary techniques and skills for performance.

Di-Zhi

Description :

di zhiThe Di-Zi (笛子), is a Chinese transverse flute. It is also sometimes known as the Dii (笛) or Heng Di (橫笛). The Di-Zi is a major Chinese musical instrument, and is widely used in many genres of Chinese folk music, as well as Chinese opera, and the modern Chinese orchestra. Traditionally, the Di-Zi has also been popular among the Chinese common people, and it is simple to make and easy to carry. This course will cover all the necessary techniques.

Yang-Qin

Description :

yang qinThe Yang-Qin was traditionally fitted with bronze strings, which gave the instrument a soft timbre. This form of instrument is still occasionally heard today in the hudie qin (蝴蝶琴, lit. "butterfly zither") played in the traditional silk and bamboo genre from the Shanghai region known as Jiangnan sizhu (江南絲竹), as well as in some Cantonese music groups. This course will cover all the necessary skills.
